One ... Reach One ~ NFBPA Membership Matters!
Recruitment Tips ...
Here are a few tips to help make your
recruitment efforts successful.
1. Familiarize yourself with NFBPA member
benefits. Also be positive and upbeat. Prospective members
are more likely to join if they hear about NFBPA from excited members.
2. If your prospective member needs
more information before deciding to join, leave them with our National
brochure and refer them to our website (www.nfbpa-charlotte.org).
Both detail member benefits and services and includes a membership
application.
3. Follow-up with prospective members
is very important. Wait a few days, then initiate your follow-up.
This simple gesture will deliver amazing results in your recruitment
efforts.
4. Identify your best
prospects. Unfortunately, NFBPA is not for everyone, so approaching
the right people is critical to your success. Some suggestions
include co-workers, professionals in your area and nonmembers who attend
chapter events.
5. Objections; Excuses. You've heard
them before. Well, being well informed makes tackling them a lot
easier. If prospective members have reservations about the cost of
membership, be straight forward. The cost of membership is very
small given the amount of resources NFBPA offers and its global
network. If they say they belong to a professional association, ask which one and make sure they know NFBPA is the primary association
dedicated to the promotion and development of the black public sector
professional. Practice addressing these and other objections you
expect to hear; then you'll be armed with effective answers.
